apick.net is an independent publication. This page explains what data the site collects, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. The short version: as little as possible, nothing about you is ever sold, and the site is supported by advertising and affiliate links.

Who runs this site

apick.net is operated by Apick Lion ("I", "me"). For any question about this policy or your data, write to [email protected].

What is collected

Personal information is not sold, rented, or traded. There is no account system, no payment processing on this site, and no data broker involved.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site uses them for three purposes:

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking them will not prevent you from reading the site, though some features may work less well.

Advertising

This site is supported by advertising. Ad slots on the site may be filled by Google AdSense or by direct sponsors.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. For readers in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, once advertising is active a consent notice is shown before any non-essential advertising cookies are set, and that consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Advertising does not influence editorial content. Advertisers never see articles before publication, and no sponsor has veto power over what is written.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links are marked as such in the text, and they never change what a recommendation says.

Your rights (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, write to the address above.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Because advertising cookies can constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CPRA, you can opt out using the Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info links above, or by contacting me.

Data retention and security

Analytics data is retained according to the Google Analytics retention setting (currently 14 months). Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short rolling period. Data is transmitted over HTTPS, and access to any stored data is limited to me and the service providers named on this page.

Third-party services

This site relies on the following providers, each governed by its own privacy policy: Google Analytics and Google AdSense (Google LLC), the site's hosting provider, and the newsletter delivery provider. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.

Children

This site is written for a general audience interested in the AI industry. It is not directed at children under 16, and no personal information is knowingly collected from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
